Good Leaf Education Association Inc.
Connecting children to nature
through hands-on, place-based learning in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Rooted in Nature
We believe every child grows best when connected to the natural world. Our programs immerse children in the outdoors, helping them develop confidence, creativity, and a deeper understanding of the environment.
Serving the U.S.V.I. Community
From the heart of the Northside of St. Thomas, we provide enriching nature-based education for all children—especially homeschoolers and underserved learners across the Virgin Islands.
Growing Lifelong Learners
By sparking curiosity and nurturing a sense of wonder, we inspire a love for learning that lasts a lifetime. Our hands-on experiences help children see themselves as part of something bigger.

Our Roots
Good Leaf Education Association began in 2020 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, when a group of kindergarten parents sought safe, meaningful ways for their children to learn outdoors.
What started as casual beach meetups soon grew into our first educational “pod,” led by the inspiring Ms. Christine Oram. Drawing on Waldorf-inspired practices and hands-on curriculum, our small group discovered the power of learning in and through nature.
Planting a Future
In 2022, a group of dedicated parents—Crystal, Joe, Sarah, and Gene—purchased what we now call “The Land.” Their dream: to create a permanent outdoor education center for all children in St. Thomas.

Our Mission
To connect children with enriching educational experiences in nature that inspire curiosity, stewardship, and holistic growth.

Our Vision
A community where children thrive as scientific thinkers, creative explorers, and compassionate citizens—learning from and alongside the natural world.

Our Core Values
Nature immersion
Lifelong learning
Community collaboration
Environmental stewardship
Child-led curiosity

Our Impact
Research proves it—and we see it every day: nature is one of the best classrooms.
Children who regularly engage with the outdoors are more curious, confident, observant, and socially connected.
At Good Leaf, we harness this by offering hands-on, whole-child learning through:
Outdoor Classrooms
❃ Play, climb, build, plant, and harvest areas
❃ Sensory-rich natural materials
❃ Activities that spark creativity and innovation
Ongoing Programs
❃ Sunshine Sprouts (Preschool)
❃ Forest Pod (Kindergarten)
❃ Good Leaf Pod (Middle School)
❃ Forest Immersion Days for local student groups
❃ Pop-Up Hikes, Community Garden Days, and School Field Trips

A Parent’s Perspective
“Watching my child grow into a confident, curious learner at the Good Leaf has been life-changing. The way the students create their own games, support each other thru learning struggles is something I didn't see in traditional schools, Good Leaf gave us more than education. It gave us a community.”
